It was 1983. I was a miserably unhappy, negative person. I hated everything about my life. I was thinking, "why me? It’s not fair! Life sucks!" I felt helpless, and stuck in a victim mentality, I was doing nothing about it. I was down in a deep hole – a big time rut at the ripe old age of 19.

Thankfully someone came along who had the insight, wisdom and objectivity to help me become aware of what was really happening and open my mind to new possibilities. It was the catalyst I needed to turn my life around and set myself on a path of personal discovery and growth.

25+ years on, I am a completely different person – so much so I can hardly believe I was that 19 year old. While I'm still learning and growing and dealing with internal and external challenges, I perceive things differently and handle them in a much better way for much better results.

Having shared the human experience – trauma, fear, pain, loss, love, joy, happiness and laughter - I knew I could certainly empathise. I’ve put in the miles to make the best of it all and created massive change within myself, so I was aware from my own experience that it can be done. Having evolved my own life this way, I decided I wanted to help people who weren’t happy and were looking for ways to improve their lives. With my desire to inspire others to enrich their lives, it was a natural progression for me to become a life coach. It was organically happening anyway, so I decided to formalise it and take it on as a new direction in my life.

Over several months I immersed myself in a life coach training program that was comprehensive, challenging, dynamic and holistic – providing me with a wealth of powerful, life changing tools and strategies.

With my coaching underway, I quickly discovered the impact I could have on people’s lives. It was so rewarding to see such positive change in such a short time, to witness my clients’ shift to a new way of looking at things, to see their enthusiasm and delight with the results they were getting – it blew me away. The high I get out of it is considerable, sustained and with no negative side effects!

I then qualified as an NLP Practitioner, and later the same year as an NLP Master Practitioner. (NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming.)

My upskilling is a life long commitment. I will never stop learning, growing, training.

It is a great privilege to be a catalyst for others – the endless and timeless ripples that extend from it are far beyond what any of us could possibly comprehend…what a phenomenal thought!

Juggling...
a great analogy for life!

During those years I sometimes figured things out myself and sometimes had a helping hand. Now I wonder how much better results I could have been getting in my life – and how much more quickly – if I’d had the option to accelerate the process with a life coach.
