Above: The hand created floor of the shower, more 3D than the picture shows. Again, part of the art vibe of the owners. Above and below/below left: We are currently sharing Sadhananda's funky little flat - great personality! Below, the driveway (that's what happens when it's in an artistan's workshop! photos costa rica (2) Above: Maia's take on Sahayak's hang session in the lovely little garden courtyard at Sadhananda's place (artisan's workshop in the background). Below and 2 x below that: Maia's photo-art after being inspired by Sadhananda's arty little home. Above: A delightful litte 'Jessi' steals our hearts in her interactions with our instruments at our Cafe de Artistas gig. Sadhananda, our temporary 'flatmate' dedicated many hours to turning footage of us playing into YouTube videos. We had no clue and it was such a blessing to have this support. Left and above: We went with Amma's charity to help prepare and then serve a hearty thick soup to the city's homeless. We took our instruments to contribute a nice vibe for the workers and the homeless folk. It was appreciated all round. It's a monthly service and I take my hat off to the regulars, it's a wonderful thing they are doing. (Latest photos get added to the bottom...) Above: The Sat Yoga Institute - a place we spend a lot of time! (Particiapting and volunteering) Above: Day one in the studio...the process begins...
Below left and below centre: The same subject being photographed, the second one being a close up. This is a lesson in 'watch where you walk and drive in Costa Rica'. This hole is on the edge of a narrow road where people walk (footpaths are a rarity) and where cars squeezing past each other go 'to the edge'. It is getting bigger as the wet season progresses, and if it is raining the hole can be full of water - and those who are not aware it is there have no idea how big it is. And even if they are familiar with it, they can still get into trouble if there is enough water on the road. Case in point, a friend of ours from the Sangha got washed into it in her 4WD! She had to get towed out, and not before the inside of the car was inundated with water! The car is extensively damaged. Below: Maia's pic, for the purpose of trivia. Can anyone guess what the purpose of the steel crate on the pole is? They are everywhere. It had us curious in our early days in Costa Rica. Will leave it with you to contemplate until further down! NB: The steel crate in the picture higher up on the right is for rubbish! They put their bags of rubbish directly in it, elevated for the wet season and to keep scrounging animals out. Some people lock them to also avoid street people going through their rubbish. Recycling is not collected from the residences - you have to take it to a recycle place (many don't - either because they choose not to, are too far away or don't have a car). Above: Sadhananda's a champion banana cake maker - we'll have to get the recipe! Above: This is the beautiful hand made Argentinian shawl Gita gave Maia, as mentioned in a blog.
Above: Our Cascada Verde event - 28 of us in total (the rest behind!) soaking up the sound vibrations of samjjana and the rainforest. Above: Victor - the cook and a real character at Cascada Verde. Above: Sahayak soaking up the late afternoon view of the Pacific Ocean from the Yoga deck at Cascada Verde. Above: The beach at Uvita. Not a person in site. This area is a large Marine National Park with rainforest down to the beach. Migrating Humpback whales are regular visitors off the coastline. Above: Another view of the beach at Uvita. Palm trees hug the high tide area. In the early morning mysterious mammal tracks could be seen following the shoreline. Above: One of the mysteries of Costa Rica. Ancient solid rock spheres of various diameters are dotted throughout the country. They hold the secrets of ancient civilisations or extraterrestrial life!!. The foreground sphere is over one metre in diameter. Above: We could be in Oz! A typical bush kitchen...the lower kitchen for volunteers at Cascada Verde - a very homely area.
